The Victorian Under 17 girls team at the jumper presentation on Friday night.

This week the National Youth Championships will take place in Coffs Harbour for the Under 15 and Under 17 girls.
Victoria will be sending a team in both age groups to represent the state against the best Australia has to offer.
The teams attended their jumper presentation on Friday night to receive their Victorian jersey and their state representative pin, and also some inspirational words from several well-respected guests.
Current Matilda’s captain Melissa Barbieri, former Matilda Theresa Deas, and former Victorian representative and current Women’s Standing
Committee Chairperson Maggie Koumi, were on hand to offer words of advice and inspiration to the players.
Melissa took the time to chat to the captains and passed on some tips and stories from her time at the recent AFC Women’s Asian Cup, in which the Matildas were the champions.
Both teams are in Group B for this year’s Championship, and will be looking to stand out and be identified for the Young Matildas and possibly even a senior call up.
The under 15’s find themselves up against South Australia, Capital Football, Tasmania and Northern Territory. They are under the coaching
of Michael McBride, and he is being assisted by Bill Mihaloudis.
Under 15’s squad:
Megan Thompson (Gk), Madeline Hince (Gk), Julia Sardo, Claudia Fruscalzo, Ebru Hassan, Helina Vunderl-Messis, Jessica Au, Kariah White, Candella Ferreyra Bas, Cordellia Crosbie, Claudia Dimasi, Tiffany Eliadis, Kate Fotopoulos, Zoe Courtney, Natasha Lusi and Anita Les.
Unfortunately, two of our most promising talents in Alex Natoli and Allison Clarke will miss the Championships due to injury.
The Under 17’s will showcase their talents against New South Wales Country, Tasmania, Northern Territory and Capital Football. They will be led by Ian Williamson, and he is being assisted by Annick Amedee-Paul.
Under 17’s squad:
Cassandra Dimovski (Gk), Natasha Nardella (Gk), Alex Cheal, Jackie Vogt, Laura Croft, Naomi Eaton, Renee Zebic, Morgan Anderson, Ebru Efe, Emma Runnalls, Hannah Stuart, Ashley Brown, Jadranka Erceg, Demi Mihaloudis, Clare Duck and Ellen Turner.
Football Federation Victoria would like to wish all the players, coaches, team managers and support staff the best of luck for the Championships.
Stay tuned for daily updates of how our girls go at the Championships.
